clubs or musicbars in osaka

i just arrived in osaka one week ago and i want to stay here for about a year. i d like to find some "nice" musicbars/ small clubs in this area. i prefere music some people may call alternative/ independent/ guitar pop. but anyway i like all kinds of music if it is not just played in the background. so if you know any locations (maybe also with live music/ small concert halls besides the mainstream) i d love to here from you. thanks in advance. nico

sorry I cant help you with the osaka prefecture....but here in the Aichi prefecture there are a quite a few live jazz and blues bars that I go to. Although that is not alternative or pop, its at least live music. Seems the live music scene is pretty hard to find in Japan.

maybe we can all get together and post the places that we know in this thread (I have a bad feeling that 90% of the people on this board live in tokyo though)

Find yerself a copy of JapanZine: http://www.japan-zine.com/ to begin as it covers the Kansai area pretty well. I imagine its music contents isn't exactly what you are looking for but it is a start. Once you find one place you like, there'll be loads of flyers to pick up for others - that I guarantee. Or find a record store by cruising Namba and grab some flyers there.
