However, usually you will see this split into family name and first/given/christian name. If this is an on-line thing, it is best to have two text fields rather than one This will remove any confusion later on if people enter their family name in usual Japanese style or if they use the western style by putting their "christian" or given name first and family name last.

If you are expecting Japanese input, you should also have a second set of input fields for the kana readings.

PLEASE if you are expecting a mix of Japanese and western names you allow all types of input and don't put stupid rules that give people with western names grief when trying to enter in.

[quote="halfnip"]What do you mean? There are problems? ]

I've always ended up solving the problem by making up some ridiculous ArudouDebito-style kanjification of my name. I get some very amusing mail nowadays because of that.

Everyone, THANK YOU.

I am doing a translation for my boss to someone else in the company who is a bit above him. We need this guy to send his and his wife's full name so we can send internatonal tickets.

This is internal to our department only and kind of on the hush hush, so he did not want to go through J personnel or translation dept.

Again, THANK YOU!

If you're buying plane tickets, don't say "full name" but "name as it appears on your passport".
