My wife is from the neighboring town and I wanted to hear what she had to say before I commented.

Back in September the guy was dismissed as coach of the team after complants from the parents. He was suspended with pay while they investigated but word got out about the story and the citys' website got a deluged by complants from local taxpayer the wondered why they were paying city taxes to support the child abuse. As of yesterday the guy was arrested and subsequently fired from his city job.

One might speculate that the story would have been buried if not for the threat that city residents might pull an NHK on them.

That was my fist reaction until I realized how young the sudents were.

The 49-year-old former coach, an official of the Shikokuchuo government, forced the students, aged 10 to 12, to run naked three times during summer vacation and after school in August and September, the officials said.

At that age they can't really be expected to stand up for their rights. It's great if they do but you can't blame them if they don't.

Hideki Ikemura, 35, admitted to the allegations, calling it a tough-love lesson, according to the officials. He is suspected of having 39 club members run naked one night in early July for purposes of mental training, and of slapping a club member in the face seven or eight times in April, they said. He quit the private school in September.
