2005's controversial and historic D1 All-Star match comes to your DVD player!
IGN: Feb. 16. 2006---JDM Option Vol. 23 is probably the most anticipated Option DVD in the history of the series...
....the Drift1 round where - for the first time ever - a non-Japanese driver won a D1 event. Vaughn "JR" Gitten won December's match-up, making him the first American driver to win a D1 round. Oh yeah, he did it in an American car (the Mustang), too. For drift fans worldwide, this was a truly historic event.
(For reference, a few high-level foreign-born Super GT drivers are now competing at D1 events in Japan. To have a "non-professional" gaijin driver beat the Japanese is a huge deal to the Japanese drift fans and organizations. If Rhys/Rod Millen or Sam Hubinette won this D1, it wouldn't be as notable as JR's win. Rod Millen is a racing legend, and everyone expected Rhys or Sam -- established pro drivers with factory-backed works cars -- to be the first gaijin to win a D1 event.)....
