FoxSports: Digby Ioane set to sacrifice $1 million paycheck in Japan to stay with Queensland and ARU
Star Australia winger Digby Ioane is set to turn his back on a $1 million a year in Japanese rugby and re-sign with the ARU and Queensland. In a major boost for the Wallabies ahead of the Rugby World Cup, Ioane has told friends he intends to walk away from a huge payday with Japanese club Kubota and stay in Australia. The decision may bring complications, however, with the flying winger believed to have agreed to a deal with Kubota earlier in the season...It's not known whether Ioane signed with the Japanese club or gave a verbal agreement, but untangling the situation will likely delay any formal announcement...Staying in Australia would see Ioane give up several hundred thousand dollars per year compared to his earning capacity in Japan...more...

The Rugby World Cup starts next week. Many international teams don't select players who are in overseas teams so most top stars are all at home. After the Cup, however, a number will go abroad, especially those who don't expect to be around for the next tournament in four years time.
