I was just about to write about it. Indeed!

They NEED to red card De Silva for forearms to other players' heads. He goes up as a header, but he's been using his height to get away with it.

I am sure we aren't the only two viewers a bit disgruntled with the officiating.

Actually, it was one of the best refereeing display till now, but then again - there in no much chance for controversy when nothing happens in the game.

You know it's bad when the announcers are complaining about yellow cards.

And the PKs are about to start......... Here we go!
And you run and you run to catch up with the sun but it's sinking
Racing around to come up behind you again
The sun is the same in a relative way, but you're older
Shorter of breath and one day closer to death

That was an amazing game, gotta give it up to Japan, they fought a good fight, not my favorite team by far, but they did do well. They will be missed.

Japan has no shame in this loss. Only Kimano might commit suicide...
Kawashima showed his nerves at the end there telegraphing his intent on the PKs, but damn...

I would liked to have seen Japan win.

Japan fought well.

Agreed, they did play an excellent match. I was kind of hoping to see kimano commit seppuku on the field though...

No, that might come later. I hope not because he played SO well before that kick.

As I said before, I really am not a fan of Japanese football, but if they keep up this pace, they will no doubt evolve into a force to be reckoned with. Usually for me, they were always boring to watch in the past, but this time around, they were kicking some serious ass!
They will eventually move up in the ranks, hey...there's always 2014 Brazil! Now that should really be interesting to see how they play then at that point ;)

I would have loved to stay up to watch the Japan-Paraguay game, but I had an early start today so I'm just getting the news now.

5-3 ... ouch.

Ah well ... that's it this time around then. I'm sure there will be lots of long faces around town today, but Japan really did make their best WC showing ever, and has finally proven themselves to have a "real" soccer team. The next WC will be something to look forward to.

Four more years with players trying thier hand at soccer overseas will help the Japanese team only get better. They will have lots of offers to get outta Japan and learn to only improve thier skills. I am still a little down because all the teams that I was cheering for are out(US, Eng, and Nippon). I think that ARG will do the best. That freak Tevez is going to make history. Forget Messi. To many others on that team are doing too well!!!

Actually, the score was 0(5)-(3)0. The game went to Penalty kicks. Komano missed the second kick. Since Paraguay made all theirs, there was no point for Japan to kick a 5th.
