He is one of the idiots that probably been complaining since Japan had some trouble recently taking top placing. Claiming the Europeans are trying the change the flow of the sport. He probably agreed with the rule changes that made it illegal to initiate throws without a grip first, which totally is against Euro style of Judo. Just enjoy the sport for sport, and leave this nationalist crap at home.

with out the open shot, that would be a little awkward for western wrestler (i love open shots) but still wouldnt change much.

when you do the finger/hand grabbing stand off, you can always grab a sleeve then go for a single or high crouch. of course a high level wresler should be able to sprawl that w/o thinking. but that is where the judo ground game comes in and the westrn wrestling goes out...

still dont see a big advantage for the japanese. their cardio is usually a knotch compared to wrestlers, the whole duck walk with someone on your back and shoot and sprawl practice for a whole day builds you up...

2016 Olympics representing the USA.

Beijing Olympic Judo Gold Medalist and MMA fighter Satoshi Ishii announced on the 9th that he plans to return to Judo and compete in the 2016 Rio De Janeiro Olympics.

From now on he will train in Los Angeles and he aims at becoming an American citizen before the 2016 Olympics. The reason for that is that unlike in Japan, in the U.S. you can both be a professional fighter and compete in amateur Judo, something that is not possible in Japan.

Well that's timely. Since Japan did not have an overflowing number of gold medals, maybe he's trying to ride on the laurels of Japan's great Beijing Champion Satoshi Ishii. Except for a slight problem, the ex-flower power man intends on entering the 2016 Olympics representing the USA. Take! Get on the phone to Ishihara immediately. How could this have happened? Hehehe

I also think it is very arrogant of him to just assume he will take the +100kg spot for the US like its no concern. I know we are not known as a top Judo country, but I am now going to make it my mission to make sure I beat him out for that spot.
