J-sports music "manners"

I think in most countries/sports, there are actual rules to prevent it...but the more sports I watch here, the more I am bewildered by the stadium/arena/etc. playing music during play. During stoppages, it's much appreciated but why during play? Then there are the often loud yankii-led "bands in the stands" who blast even more decibels into the mix. Don't get me wrong, some of the support these amateur teams get is amazing and I love the enthusiasm...but why isn't there some order to it? Half the time the bands are playing audio war with whatever the facility is blasting at the moment.

I guess in some sports it makes less of a difference but the last few soccer and hockey games I've seen this, there have been a few instances during the game where the officials whistle could not be heard over the music by some of the players...and resulted in penalties/injuries/etc. It's pretty fucked for the players and the officials. So far the only explanation I've gotten is "Japanese sports manners are different." Is it really just "manners" when it's directly affecting the game??

As long as they don't play an ice hockey game during a concert, I don't care...

Yeah, I gave up going to games at Nagodo 'cause I couldn't handle the cacophony. Friend working for Coke always got us good seats, the beer girls were nice, forcing the smokers to go out past the concessions was good too, but the gawdawful constant noise... :shake:
