Hi Guys,
I havnt been on this forum in ages. Though FG did help me through some dark times when I was lost in Japan!
Just wondering and I am sure this question has popped up before:
I have had a problem sending Japanese script email from my OSX 4.3 imac G5 (power pc) using mac mail to a UK XP machine. The UK XP machine has the relevant IME bits.
If I send from mac mail to Hotmail Japan - the kanji are garbled. But will be ungarbled if the hotmail interface is reset to English, but in this case the header is garbled. (doing Text encoding changes ie Shift -JIS etc has no effect)
Downloading the hotmail message to outlook will allow the emails to be read, but then cannot be resent - kanji become ?????????? question marks.
The user of the said UK Xp machine swears it is an Apple problem. But I regularly email Japanese people who use XP (albeit the JP edition), hotmail and yahoo - and chat on Yahoo jp from my Mac and have NO problem.
I know part of the problem may lie with teh fact that OSX is one system for all nations, where as XP has different regional editions - same with the hotmail service.
This is bugging me, Any of you guys have a clue?
I guess you out there who do this thing regularly will know hat I am on about.
Many thanks for any help
