I wonder if I should do the Windows 10 Japanese then? Maybe I have to. It's a Japanese bought Japanese OS machine. Other than the funky IME switcheroo bit where I have to go through the weird Japanese full size Roman ...........erp.That, btw. Feck. That should do it. Feck, Cdn keyboard. Wow. This royally fucked now.

Please doん’t........

So, a restart fixed whatever TF was going on before, but when I first bought it I had to go through Full Kaku to get to normal Roman, then it magically switched to Japanese to Hangaku, and about 2 weeks ago my infernal machina went back to the detour route. I get that I am probably inadvertently pushing key shortcuts the problem is I don't know WTF they are, and I have a spazzy hand which occasionally does whatever it wants. For reference, my other account (For Perusing Interwebz Reference Materials like Gangbang Court) has never had the 2 step change; it's always just been Hiragana to Hangaku Roman.

Any ideas or ready solutions?

Dual booting operating systems on a Japanese keyboard here, and the shortcut key combinations able to be registered differ between the two operating systems.

Which is the long way of saying that without knowing the full details of your environment and having an exact replica here to play around with, there is no easy solution. The IME settings may provide a clue for you.

Not sure if it's because it's "Microsoft hardware" or what but so far the only glitch was it recognizing my Jpn keyboard as a US keyboard...before I updated the 10 install. The update apparently installs all the necessary drivers so one restart later and everything looks good. Noticeable performance (speed) increases here and there. My only real complaint is I prefer clean installs rather than upgrades.

 I doubt it's a dual booting system because I don't know what that is anyways. I assume it allows 2 different configurations that I would have had to setup to run and since I can't I didn't. Or some such.

Thanks. That helps to take baby steps anyways. I will compare them in the 2 different user accounts and see what I can find. It's not that big a deal, but it bugs me that inadvertent keyboard shortcuts or the system fairies keep changing it from the 1 step straight Hiragana to Proper Roman to the 2 step Hirgana-Clunky Jpn Roman-Proper Roman without the Microsoft Paper Creep telling me so. And the Guest User account is still on Hiragana-Proper Roman. Anyhoo, I'll rummage around down there. Thanks again.

The reason I mentioned I have a dual boot is to say that with precisely identical (i.e., the exact self same) hardware, I have to remember two different "change input method" shortcuts depending on whether I am using Windows or Linux. The shortcuts should be a software setting, but even so, the software in Windows does not permit the registration of the same shortcuts as are used in the Linux system, and vice versa.

It was a way to say "nobody in a different room to you without their hands on your machine can give you an easy answer."

For the first time ever, I'm actually seeing "English - Japanese keyboard" as an option when windows starts up. Look for that...if you leave it as "ENG" it basically uses the driver for an US English keyboard....not fun.

That "The New American" article is a bit over the top.

Facebook, Google, your ISP ... anytime you do anything in the Internet you are being spied on in one way or another. How do you think those "services" make a profit? Your choices are to either unplug or get used to it. Windows 10 is no worse, an you can turn off most of the telemetry quite easily. There are reports that it is still phoning home even after you tell it not to, but a lot of that is likely to be paranoia.

IMHO it is a very well sorted OS. I will happily eat my words if it really does turn out to be an evil plot, but I doubt it.

Well if it is still phoning home and reporting on keystrokes even when told not to, that would not be paranoia - that would indeed be spying. But I do get your overall point - we get spied on all of the time. I`ll still be waiting until the very last...

Dood, that's the same difference as being at home or in the street.
Using my computer's software, like being at home, I don't expect anyone to see/spy on me

When I go on the interweb, like going outside, there's much less expectation of privacy.

What microsoft do is like putting a webcam in your shitter, and you find that ok...

I recall some of your posts in the past that actually suggest that you, Mr. Coligny, would be perfectly fine with that.

The person at Microsoft who checks out the pics, on the other hand, should be pitied.

But then again, that's what he/she gets those stock options for...

Yea, but it's a personnal and recreationnal scatophyle behaviour.

There is no reason to tolerate that some amerkun butthead decide it should be included wih every OS upgrade.

I meant that last time I checked (a couple of days ago) there were unverified "reports," which are likely to be based more on paranoia than reality. If any keylogging activity is verified you can bet that the excrement will cross paths with the rotary ventilation device big time.

You are aware I hope that it is possible you will be held liable in some countries if your computer is hacked and used for criminal activities if you were shoddy in keeping your security up to a reasonable level.

Microsoft is thinking about security, not spying.

Please... Tell me you are joking... "We need to be able to see your dick pics if you want us to keep you safe from pretend laws in countries you are not"

It's the same level of stupid as stating "well, they certainly not be listenning on you since you are not intredasting" to minimize NSA wiretaping scandals...

Backdoors and constant reporting have no link to security.

Coligny, before this discussion started, I completely agreed with you.

Now you have blessed us with your wisdom, somehow succeeding to link the dick pics stored on you computer(s) to online security, I have gradually got to the point that I am longing to have Windows 10 installed on my computer...

Coligny-chan,

You sound very paranoid about the contents of your hard drive

Please rest assured the sheer volume of data is your best defense.

If twenty years ago someone had said to you that everyone would carry a device which would reveal their geographic location within a few meters you would have screamed "ORWELLIAN"

oooh look, the next iFone, must have it, it comes with car navi, ooh, a little holder so I can put it on my dashboard, and my bicycle, and I can clutch it on the train, and while I walk, and caress it when I wake, and fondle it before I go to bed.

but I can take photos with it, and upload them onto a server in the cloud, and post them on my fuckbook, and twittery tweet them to my "friends", oh look at my curry rice

Microsoft can't write a line of code without half a dozen bugs init. Any administrative access or reporting built in windows is just a security flaw waiting to be exploited...
Their automatic updates installation is also frightenningly stupid.

None of the bullshit you wrote has any relevance with the problem of suspected built in reporting in Win10

Microsoft has been at the forefront of software security incompetence since the mid 90'
The issue is not mainly Microsoft spying on you. Which stinks a bit but will be tamed by the fear of legal sanction and share price freefall in case of misbehaviour.
The issue is with these morons implementing these kind of backdoors into the OS we are basically days away from some Russian hackers group finding them and potentially exploiting them either for botnet purpose or the new "data hostage for ransom" schemes.
The job of a phone is to comunicate, the job of an operating system is to run software.
My phone knows where I go... THAT'S HIS FUCKING JOB
My os... His job is running A10 warthog smoothly, not reporting anywhere if I used MSPaint to draw a dick on your moms wedding pictures.

And as some other here you pleasantly defecate on the concept of free will, showing your disdain for the individual other than you to exist.
I can choose to carry an Iphone because the functions outweight the drawbacks. I can even carry it in an rfid safepouch acting as a faraday cage. The potential drawbacks are direct result of its primary function, it's a communication device. It also include opt-out settings for any reporting capability. Including the phone part if I use the airplane mode. And I'm not aware of any safety bug that have been exploited to compromise an iphone.
Considering it Orwellian ignore the fact that it's not mandatory or that the privacy invasion potential are a side effect and not a primary purpose. Not too hard to buy a second hand phone and a prepaid card that you trade with someone else. In this case, the phone knows that -someone- went -somewhere- which is not intel actionable upon...
And it's not the topic...
