Leopalace BB

Postby Dopefish » Sun Feb 26, 2006 5:35 pm

This sucks!
I am actually not surprised that they have totally restricted this internet access but jeez they are very thorough.

I can get better speed on Dialup than through bittorrent through this connection. :inlove:

Is there anyone here who is using leopalace BB (specifically fibre) and has somehow gotten around this or managed to forward a port etc??

It's pretty funny that i get a 100mbit connection, downloading some test files from microsoft at 1120kbytes + 560kkbytes but when i want anything good its slower than my old connection in Australia. :o

Thanks

Oops, you said the naughty-naughty "b" word.

Damn, I would be mega-pissed too if my mansion had "restricted internet access" however Rules is Rules.
Sorry it's not my rule, but we cannot talk about this on the FG Forum.

hi i am not after copyright materials... what's wrong with bittorrent?? I need to patch my World of Warcraft and I was trying to download some demos from http://www.ausgamers.com/ which I usually use bittorrent for.

Thanks

I think he's more interested in how to make his internet connection work properly than actually discussing illegal downloads.

Plus, BitTorrent isn't limited to illegal downloads... although this probably isn't very convincing.

If i was to get a phone line and get yahoo BB (revo) 56mbit/12.5mbit do you think that would be much better? I do not want to pay the extra 4300~Yen a month for DSL if it's going to be the same speed.

Does anyone have this revo service and what kind of speeds do you usually get from this? Eg, Download/Upload from websites, how fast you can upload files etc.

I think that may be the way to go if Leopalace BB is of this speed........

Yep, that's why I didn't lock this thread.;)

As far as boosting speed, many times before the FG here remind you to get 100mbit fiber if possible (not much chance with leopalace which is tied to your rental agreement ). Regular telephony ADSL like yahoo BB 56mbit/12.5mbit but real-world rates are more like 20mbit/4mbit at best if you're lucky( and it can get as bad as 8mbit/0.5mbit, meh ). Ask your neighbors what they are using---sometime the distence to the teleco switch makes ASDL sloooow in bad locations.
I think it would be worth the extra 4300+ Yen a month to you Dopefish---it is to me using NTT FLETS because fibre is not available in my building.
