Postby mr. sparkle » Wed Feb 21, 2007 3:13 am

Awaiting the announcements of some new products today. Any predictions? New Towers? Leopard?

Huh? What makes you say there's a product announcement due today? I've seen nothing on the usual Mac websites to indicate anything is due to announce today (although my favorite news aggregator, macnewz.com is currently down). I heard there is a big photo trade show (forgot the name) coming up within a week, which might be a logical time to make product announcements.

Leopard has been forecast for late March at the earliest & other than something like sub-notebooks or consumer-grade towers(which i doubt), I can only foresee mini/imac/pro upgrades.

Sparkle, you own much Apple stock? I think you're just trying to keep those buy ratings going with all your crazy speculation ;)

I found out a little bit more info, the upcoming show is PMA2007, the Photography Marketing Assoc. annual trade show. It's a little farther away than I thought, it's from March 8 through the 11th. Here's some info on expected camera announcements, but nothing on computer stuff.
There are a few trade shows where Apple usually exhibits or announces industry-specific products, IIRC they announced Aperture at a previous PMA show. This would also be a really good time for Adobe to announce CS3, so it would be a great time for Apple to announce new pro Macs. But I'm just guessing.

Here is where I saw the rumor.

AppleRecon will hopefully drop to the bottom of the “most trusted” list. They don’t even post an update to this “anonymous” tip from a “source.” You suck.

My apologies crew. I'm just hyper sensitive to updates to the new towers.

Apple Trades at $200 for First Time

Apple Shares Trade at $200 for 1st Time, Bolstered by Investor Confidence in IPod Maker

NEW YORK (AP) -- Shares of Apple Inc. hit the $200 mark for the first time Wednesday, as investor confidence in the company continued rising near the end of what has been a strong year for the iPod and computer maker.
Shares rose 15 cents to close at $198.95. They earlier peaked at $200.

Apple shares have traded between $76.77 and $199.33 in the past year, rising steadily since January as investors anticipated and then cheered the release of the company's hybrid cell phone, multimedia player and wireless Internet device, the iPhone. The product went on sale at the end of June.

Apple released a refreshed line of iPods during the year, updating its flash-based Nano model to one that can play videos, and introducing a device called the iPod Touch which is much like an iPhone without cellular calling capabilities....more.....

Ooh I'm just kicking myself for not putting every cent I had on AAPL 2 years ago, when it was trading around 60. I would have tripled my money, and then some. And it's still going strong, UBS says the current target is 250. I could still get in and make some money.

I had been wishing I had spare money to spend on shares in 2003 (I did - but I needed it to finance my year at uni in Japan) when I considered Apple stock to be a very good investment..... it feels awfully late in the day to be forking over any dough now though.

Failing that I'll start a global neo-Communist revolution and Apple will be assimilated into The Peoples Glorious Computer Concern.
