The Renault R-Link:

  • R-LINK will provide future Renault vehicles with affordable, intuitive multimedia connectivity, both with the outside world and with its users.
  • R-LINK is a scalable tablet thanks to the input of application developers who will progressively upgrade its content.

Well... they like totally should...

Depending on how they really believe in their project (Renault being unfortunately becoming a copy cat of the Soviet Union as far as byzantine bureaucracy goes). It could be the first major push toward unified appliance interface systems. Car, TV, microwave, web tablet: 1 OS, 1 interface paradigm. Less user training needed, less error, more company ressource available toward reliability and research. Just for the Renault group that would make:
Samsung, Nissan, Dacia, Lada, Infinity, Alpine, Renault Truck, Renault Truck Defense, Mack Truck.

Guarantee of high volume to drag the cost down and world wide coverage.
