Man, to think that the FDS was only around 150 J-bucks when it first came out. (I have no idea what the $->Yen was back then) Compared to today's standards (where new systems run $200-300) that's insanely cheap. And to think that the disks were only 500 yen each!? That's awesome.

Although, with inflation, everything probably equals out to why stuff is so more expensive these days.

Awesome find, Ultra!

Hahaha, don't you love how people are paying 100+ dollars for *just* the disk system in America, but if they had their Japanese-speaking friends visit the Japanese Ebay, they could get the system and the Famicon set for 50 bucks?

Although, I've had so much frickin trouble trying to get Japanese companies to ship internationally. Seems almost no one is willing to do it. Gaijin ARE a liability after all.

Sweet!

For the record, Progressive Boink is a great website. There is a writer on the page, B Thomson Stroud (I think?), who wrote a book Seven Hill City, which is also fantastic.

Read the Sailor Moon review, haha.

Back in those days, I think the dollar to yen was traded at around 300 yen so you can imagine how they were still making huge profits from overseas sales.

I still remember my first Famicom (or NES in the US). Despite the simplicity of controls and the prehistoric graphics, I still think the games back then had more imaginations than the games today. Only the people who grew up with the old school Nintendo knows what I'm talking about..
