Halo 2 is seeing a near simultaneous release worldwide -- a big improvement from the original where gamers in Japan were forced to wait over half a year for the greatness of Bungie's landmark first person shooter. A Japanese release means Japanese reviews, and today we spotted the first one on the pages of Famitsu Xbox, Japan's largest (and only) Xbox exclusive magazine ...

... Halo 2 was given the most favorable rating of the month with a 10, 9, 9 and 9. The magazine's editor-in-chief scored the game a ten and had this to say: "The battles are totally intense. It's been a while since I've forgotten about sleep and food to this extent while playing a game." We'll skip the bit about the campaign mode in order continue the trend of avoiding spoilers, but the review finishes off with "Xbox users who play this will be truly happy. Seriously."

Halo was OK, but it was nothing special in my opinion. Just another first-person shooter that once played through, did not get pulled out and played again. There have been many games of it's ilk before. Halo 2 has just been hyped to all stupidity because it's for Xbox only. Microsoft has paid off a hell of a lot of people to market it. It has literally been going bonkers before Halo 2's release.

I don't even want to talk about that damned boring ass "library" level in the first game, which gained a certain amount of infamy. Walk a bit, shoot more enemies, walk a bit shoot more enemies, blah blah blah crap.

What the hell is the fuss about?

If you have friends to play multiplayer with, it's worth every yen.

Hello folks

I'm not here to interrupt your beloved Halo 2 atmosphere. The matter of fact, a single game wont increase the popularity of Xbox in Japan. Therefore it wont rise up Microsofts console sales. As you might know, Asia especially the Japanese market is one of the most important games region in the world. Secondly MS and it's market strategy failed in Nippon. There are also a lot of other factors why it just didn't hit the Jap shelves.

The other thing: Halo and Japanese gamers....how come. Asian gamers have a fave for RPG's and so on. What I want to tell is that 1st person shooter is just not that thing they wanna play.
EU and US players can't get there hands off that game.

9, 10 or even 100 score for a game, Xbox will always lack behind PS2 and GC. Smash titels such Halo 2 can't boost the Xbox sales and popularity in Japan.
