SEGA: Yakuza are so tough, they don't use umbrellas

While marketing the Yakuza series to western audiences poses some challenges (both from a content and somewhat unique game type standpoint), SEGA's latest effort for Yakuza 4 (due out in the US and EU in Spring 2011) is rather odd....trying to be gritty, they frequently shift to an ironic tone and then suggest that players 'step in the shoes of the Yakuza and give yourself one last chance at becoming somebody in a world of nobodies.'

I'm still wondering what a "$5 sake sake" is

Amazing how the pronunciation of even simple words eludes some people.

On the plus side, the new one at least has some overall theme, if a clunky one....the last time around yakuza 3, they came out with something quite jarring....

it is as if they the marketing meeting and the head person said "I want to show that it is a story based game", so they show 30 seconds of moody scenes with moody music, "but we need to show it is an ass kicking game too", so they literally drop a needle in the sound track and switch to shots of curb stomping and jumping on people's chests, "...and work in that bowling and luchador masks stuff too....and close with karaoke shot"

Wasn't that Prince Andrew's pornstar girlfriend back in the early '80s, or am I really showing my age now?
