List of Gundam video games

I think in a similar way that Miyazaki Hayao felt threatened by Western animation and critisized it as being weak, this douche bag is doing the same for videogames. OMG, TV viewers are decreasing, so let's lash out at the new "in" thing instead of, oh I don't know, getting our act together and doing something new and worthwhile.

Did anyone here see Ideon? I don't think I'm gonna take lessons on good and evil from a guy that show's a toddler getting decapitated by a rocket.

Unless you are a 7 year old child mainstream western animation its not interesting at all, less well known stuff like Jan Švankmajer can be excellent tho but Miyazaki prob wasnt talking about that. I can see his point but I think most things are fine in moderation.

Yea video games are evil...let's all sit down and watch some NHK or FOX commentary to learn how to think.

Actually I was hoping you'd justify YOUR life instead of taking pot shots at other people's. So come on, what is it that's so valuable and/or important? Work? Don't make me laugh. Women? Unless you're developing real relationships, how fucking shallow. Sports? Someone's still living their jock dreams from the 80's, eh. Or maybe you and you're family are tycooning a multimedia empire with aspirations of world domination, in which case, fuck off. You're half the problem. Seriously, how people spend their free time is entirely up to them. What gives you the moral high ground to sit back and cast judgement on others? Last I heard, Jesus was still in heaven and was still pretty much apathetic to the goings on down here.

Oh no wait a minute, trolling message boards is what you do, right? Well that's obviously so much better than gaming or whatever. Thanks for the clarification cock smoker. My eyes are now open.

I would almost agree that video games are evil.

But the hypocrisy of me engaging in the similarly pointless activity of Internet forum posting is just too great! :(

Maybe better to say video games, like any other technology, can be abused and misused. I'd say that RPGs and MMORPGs have a much greater chance of really fucking up your life into the Never-Leave-the-House, Flunk Out of Even a JAPANESE University stage.
At least with drugs and booze, you are foced to stop when you run out of cash.

I tried a free MMORPG once, got to about level 50 and saw that I had spent about 60 hours total or whatever playing it. And just said, "Wow, this is totally fucking pointless." Never played another RPG since, never will.
But I still play little mini games on Kongregate.com and the like. It's like a coffee break for your brain.

Churchill thought that games were extremely important for mental health.

Even ignoring the fact that there are Gundam video games it is ironic that the creator of something as stupid and pointless as Gundam would be so against them.

However, I do think video games are a bad thing in as much as kids spend way too much time sitting on their asses instead of playing outside and in the process are getting fatter at a younger age. The same can be said of TV and the Internet though.

And Midwinter, if you don't see pursuing women, getting some exercise, or working as better options than video games you just might be an addict.

Islam was invent many centuries after Christianity, and the organization of Christianity and the creation of the New Testament was a few hundred years later but the teaching was being spread through out the middle east and Europe well before.

And Midwinter, let me give you a piece of advice, there is no winning against nottu.

Yes Muhammed and the Qur'an came about around 500ad. BUT the Syrians believed in one god long before the time of Moses. The one god theory began with the middle africans. Muhammed put all the pieces together. He did not invent a religion, that is why he is a profit and not the "son of god". Jesus is also a profit in the religon of islam, as is Moses.

SJ, my original point was that this douche bag, the creator of Gundam, was simply speaking sour grapes. As one medium takes over from the last, this has always happened. Cinema was decreid years ago as being bad/evil/garbage by those who made a living off live stage shows and writing books. 100 years later as Interactive Entertainment begins to make serious leway into mainstream culture, we are seeing a repeat of this. So Douchebag Gundam made some money off of some giant robots, congrats, but how is sitting on one's arse watching giant robots for hours on end (and there are fans that do this) any different than playing video games for the same duration? It's not and to me his posturing sounds like sour grapes.

I do agree with you however, anything in extreme is probably not good for you. Be it work, sex, exercise, sunlight, shit even veganism is probably bad for you in some fashion lol but thats an arguement for another day.

Or anonymous posters' opinions on internet forums. :p

There's definitely a lot to be learned from studying and researching things yourself, but very little (if anything) to be gained from blindly accepting the opinions or wild generalizations of others.

As for video games, generalization like Nottu's that all gamers are "retards" speaks volumes about him but very little about the topic. Video games are no worse than TV (subject to variables such as the content and duration of use of both) and certainly appear to be less destructive than online gambling or porn [sorry, Greji, I know it hurts to hear that :p ]. You can also find articles praising some games for assisting in developing problem-solving techniques and, more recently, that aged homes are discovering their benefits in staving off the deterioration of cognitive thinking with age, and even for physical exercise (with the Wii).

But "all good things in moderation", and gaming is no different. IMO there's also a lot to be said for SJ's comment that today's kids seem to indulge in it way too much.

Also, video games and their potential to train (amongst other things) remote fighter pilots was mentioned lightly in "Japan's flying robot troops" and I was reminded of that recently by a doco. on fighter plane development where experts were saying that they've more or less reached the end of manned fighter development, as they cannot fulfill their full potential with a pilot inside (even with their high-tech flight suits), requiring many limits to be inbuilt so that the pilot isn't disabled by the forces created in maneuvers.

Plus, if you get rid of the pilots you don't have to clean up the empty beer cans and porno mags when people like Greji get out.:p

True I love his work, but the average American kid has the attention span of a hummingbird and Disney does well you grab the attention of these kids and producing crap that sells well in the American market, and even the Japanese market. How many kids have you seen with a Lilo and Stich strap or keychain vs a Totoro piece of merchandise. To Disney its quantity over quality.

Enhancing the contrast sensitivity function through action video game training

Renjie Li1, Uri Polat2, Walter Makous1 & Daphne Bavelier1

The contrast sensitivity function (CSF) is routinely assessed in clinical evaluation of vision and is the primary limiting factor in how well one sees. CSF improvements are typically brought about by correction of the optics of the eye with eyeglasses, contact lenses or surgery. We found that the very act of action video game playing also enhanced contrast sensitivity, providing a complementary route to eyesight improvement.
