this has already been debunked.

roms/retro isos etc are *not* free game.

it only applies if you own the title and choose to have a copy or circumnavigate the copy protection.

so the only ppl this really applies to are guys like theguru./guruchoc/razoola/dave etc...

when i get round to going back to the uk/holland and receive a package from the usofa next year ill be complete on everything, wip included, being mates with the runner of the mame/tosec ftp host an all ^^

hopefully by that time blueray will be available for pcs so i can avoid having to spend 2 or 3 days burning it all... its a whole lotta data!

What I'd like to see happen is the open-sourcing of some old nes and snes roms, in particular shadowgate, deja vu, Zelda: Link's Awakening, Chrono Trigger, and Final Fantasy IV and VI.

I think a lot of writers would enjoy having hte software to build their own worlds.

I'm sure they would, but those engines are still viable commercially. Gamebody Advance development is very similar to the SNES, so nobody's going to give up any code they can still use to make money.
