Japanese Classes are full of Anime Dorks

the reason why i'm taking Japanese is because I'm a jpop music fan and a jdorama watcher... I also like anime but it gets boring...I want to know more about the culture and what not, and I have made japanese as my minor..
I woudn't want to do japanese as my major...japanese is hard as it is..

BTW just ploughing through the entire Monkey series but am sad that I can switch the languages. I wouldn't mind watching it in the original Japanese. There are a few of the "lost" episodes that were never dubbed included in Japanese.

Yeah, I started Japanese in college with like 30 classmates, and ended up being the ONLY person to finish the intermediate courses...and probably the only person to take the advanced courses in years.

Funny thing is the only Japanese exports that I'm interested in are cars and my wife. Can't really stand anime or j-pop or any of the other nonsense.

Come to think of it, I seriously regret devoting so much time to Japanese. It's becoming kind of a worthless language. I should have just learned spanish or something.

From what I remember reading in Barry Farber's "Learn Any Language", the more experience you have learning languages, the easier it is to aquire a third fourth, etc. Since you've been studying what is supposedly one of the toughest ones of all, Spanish should be a snap to learn. Not so hard to pick up a fork after you've been pumping iron.

J-drama should be watched by everyone at least once in a while just to keep things in perspective. To me the always seem to serve as an irony recharger.

if one of the local colleges or universities here were to offer japanese classes, i would take them. yeah, the language is super difficult to learn, but hey, so what. for me at least, i'd take the classes for as long and as far as they would take them. i remember that a few friends of mine here did take a couple classes being offered at UNF because they are anime gamer otaku/dorks and they loved it. UNF hasn't offered the class in years.
