Mari of "Watashi to Tokyo" wrote the other day about how the manga magazine Shonen Sunday is catching flack for publishing a story which seems to be a copy of the popular Death Note series. Called LOST+BRAIN, the series is coming under heavy scrutiny from Death Note fans and they don't like what they see. The images below compare frames from LOST+BRAIN (Called "Megabaka" here and on the left in the first selection) with those from Death Note:
Death Note was the first "mainstream" manga I've read for non-work related reasons in 10+ years because people (Japanese associates) kept telling me how great it was.
I was thoroughly disappointed. Let's see if he copies the forumula too.
Interesting concept + ridiculous mystery elements/deus ex machina = thoroughly retarded end of series.
Ready made FG reply message below, copy, paste and fill in the blanks or select the appropriate items: But in (SOME OTHER FUCKING PLACE WE AREN'T TALKING ABOUT) the (NOUN) is also (ADJECTIVE), so you are being (RACIST/ANTI-JAPANESE/NAZI/BLAH BLAH BLAH) just because (BLAH BLAH BLAH) is (OPTIONAL PREPOSITION) (JAPAN/JAPANESE)"
It looks like I may have confused two stories here: Mari's blog spoke about similarities between Death Note and Lost Brain in Shonen Sunday whereas the images above are from "Mega Baka" in Kodansha's Magazine Dragon.
