Akiba Today Website Launches

There are any number of Akihabara websites in English these days such as Akihabara News, Akibanana and Akihabara Channel. What with coverage of otaku subjects by bloggers like Danny Choo, there wouldn't seem to be much space for a new site but Akiba Today has just launched. Currently, it appears to be mostly an English version of the Akihabara Keizai Shimbun although the plans are to look at trends "from a global perspective with it's international staff, alliances with bloggers and other Otaku related websites or magazines". The English press release claims that "'Otaku Boom' is more than just a short lived trend but rather has established itself as a vital alternative next to the traditional hollywood, or western culture". Their goal is to "attain a monthly PV rating of 5 million users by the end of this year".
