Listening test of university entrance exam

Postby dimwit » Tue Jan 17, 2006 10:19 pm

Hi gang! I was wondering if anyone was heard anything about the English listening test for the university cental entrance exam? I have a bunch of grade 12 students but I frankly have heard nothing about the form of the test ie.what kind of questions they can expect. The only imformation I have heard is the fact that they will be using portible tape players.

Thanks

I think a TV segment I saw on it last year indicated they would use digital players.

The Yomiuri has a couple of not-very-informative articles:

Japan Times: Glitches force hundreds to retake test
Problems Saturday with the integrated circuit players used for the English listening component of unified college entrance exams forced 453 examinees to retake that part of the tests, organizers said. The education ministry's National Center for University Entrance Examinations made the announcement Sunday, the second day of the two-day exams. There were 461 candidates subject to the second test, which was conducted at the end of the first day of exams. Eight chose not to retake it, the center said

I was just perusing the listening test and it looks a lot like TOEIC except the conversations and speechs are obviously high schoolish rather than business-oriented
