JTEKT North America (JNA), located in Plymouth, Michigan, has an opening
for a Buyer in the Steering Division.

About the Opportunity

This exciting opportunity would require that you spend 6-12 months training
with our Purchasing Department in Vonore, Tennessee (in the Knoxville
area). After completion of training, this position would be located at our
headquarters in Plymouth, Michigan. Responsibilities include:

- Coordinate with Sales and Marketing Department to analyze demand for
current and future products
- Become familiar with the worldwide supplier base and know the strengths
and weaknesses of major suppliers, determine the main costs drivers and
build action plans to maintain required quality and delivery while
minimizing costs.
- Stay abreast of market trends and new technology and communicate to JTEKT
management based on such information.
- Support cost reduction activities by providing input during design stage
to ensure the target cost is met at start of production, supporting and
developing supplier VAVE activities, supporting SDE supplier kaizen
workshops by defining cost reduction targets wit the supplier and cost
sharing rules with the suppliers, and by drafting and implementing long
term contracts.
- Perform an analysis of current supplier capabilities, market trends, and
company long term needs.
- Support action plans to improve current supplier panel according to the
companies long term needs.
- Support global supplier performance and QCD performance.

Qualifications

- Bachelor of Science Engineering or other technical background
- Must be fluent in Japanese, both verbal and written
- Good communication skills
- Ability to work in a participative management environment and maintain a
drive for accomplishment of responsibilities
- Ability to travel, with little or no notice as required, including
overseas
- PC skills, including proficiency with Excel, Word and PowerPoint
- Possess ability to handle multiple complex tasks
