I'm looking at the job description and I don't see why it requires the Japanese language skills. Maybe Amazon.com is becoming a outsourcing head-hunter company (like we don't have plenty of those already like the eikaiwa schools..). Maybe I am missing something here.

Holy cow. Their four primary job requirements are totally unrelated to each other: experience working with fraud, Japanese language skills, knowledge of the Unix operating system, and presumably U.S. citizenship (since they won't sponsor visas).

That is really a stretch. There is only one place I can think of where you are likely to find computer geek Americans who are fluent in Japanese and are intimately familiar with fraud: here.

Amazon has been trying to fill this position for quite a while. The ad has been appearing on Craigslist Seattle regularly for over a year.

A lot of companies do that. They create positions that are all but impossible to fill and spend a year or two trying to find the perfect candidate. I've always believed that if you can keep a position vacant for that long it's a pretty good indication that you don't actually need to fill it.

And they still pay you below-par salaryman level income. FUCK THAT.
