School Hiring NOW 4.7/year!

Postby Melissa » Tue Mar 08, 2005 3:38 pm

Hi did anyone else see that ad in the Japan TImes? The Tokyo Korean School is looking for a full-time teacher April 1st and salary is 4.7 million yen a year. Sounds pretty good for an English teacher. Deadline is March 11th.

I'm undecided about emailing my resume as I like where I'm at now even though the money is lower. If you didn't see the ad I can give you the information.

Well, at least it's not a DPRK-owned school.

...Kwon Yang Suk, the wife of South Korean President Roh Moo Hyun, was welcomed Saturday by students at a Korean school in Tokyo with dance and musical performances.
Kwon, who is accompanying her husband on a four-day state visit to Japan, spent time at the Tokyo Korean School in the capital's Shinjuku Ward, where students gave her flowers and performed traditional Korean music and dances dressed in Korean clothes.
"You're great because you may become trilingual in Korean, Japanese and English. I hope you will be active in the world," she told students.
The president's wife, who presented the school with three personal computers, applauded after the performances and observed students attending classes. She also took photographs with children at the school.
About 800 students attend the Tokyo Korean School, which is comprised of primary, middle and high schools....

Website looks real nice. But anyone who gets involved in that shit should be sure to have three things

1)a strong rope
2) a high tree
3) basic knot tying skills

AK lived in Korea for a year. I don't know the whole story but from what he has posted on the subject he was most definitely not a happy camper when he left...

Is this an Engrish school or an international school for Korean kids similar to the American School or the British School or Sacred Heart or Nishi-Machi School etc? If the latter then a teaching degree and experience would be the minimum requirement.

If it's like the Korean schools in Osaka then it is a school for Korean residents of Japan (ie mostly families who have lived in Japan for 2 generations or more) who don't want to send their kids to Japanese schools.
