Position Overview:
The individual who fills this Sales Director position will have
responsibility for leading a team of Japanese, Korean and EU account
executives that manage our relationships and business with NAVTEQ's
Asia-Pacific (AP) customers. This individual will be responsible to develop
influential relationships at the senior levels of all AP OE's and system
vendors with an emphasis on nurturing expatriates from headquarters on
assignment in NA. This individual must have an outstanding track record of
exceeding aggressive sales objectives in a fast-paced environment and
achieving benchmark levels of customer satisfaction. A keen understanding
of the Japanese and Korean automotive cultures is a significant plus. In
addition to retaining our current market share for initial licenses, the
incumbent will be charged with winning all new AP customers that enter the
NA market. Developing and deploying creative marketing and distribution
service programs at the OEis, in partnership with the system vendors, will
also be a key objective. Close teaming and constant communication with
NAVTEQ's Global counterparts as well as headquarter personnel are
essential.

drivers & trends at the Asia-Pacific OE's, system vendors and within the
industry to help shape the strategic direction of NT.
- Communication -- quintessential verbal, written, aural, and presentation
skills. Engages the customer in the irighti discussions that results in a
continual flow of crisp, candid, high-value information. A English
speaking native with an excellent mastery of the Japanese language is
strongly preferred.
Required Knowledge:
- Sales Leadership - has thorough knowledge and demonstrated experience at
leading a diverse group of Account Executives to achieve near and long-term
financial goals as well as key non-financial objectives.
- Customer Expert - drives the sales team to be the recognized experts on
all facets of the customersi organization including a mastery-level
understanding of key decision processes. Utilizes this combined knowledge
to develop, communicate, and implement a clear, simple, customer focused
vision consistent with NTis vision and mission.
- Industry Knowledge - thorough understanding of the global automotive
business with an emphasis on Asian manufacturers.
- Competitive Knowledge - acquires a complete understanding of emerging
competitors' strategies/actions and develops counter-strategies ensuring
that NT continues to be the leading digital map database supplier.
- Technically Competent - quickly develops a core understanding of the
database, related software and hardware platforms, and emerging
technologies.
- Financial Knowledge - understands the customersi key financial measures
and NTis accounting methods with an emphasis on accurate forecasting and
budgeting.
