Quick question for anyone who might know - I had a quote recently for some construction work to be done and the guy gave me the quote as a simple all-inclusive estimate. So I asked for a breakdown of materials and labour, so I could compare it with other quotes I plan to get, and what I got from him was a breakdown of the cost of all the materials but with the labour for each included.
Conclusion - the guy doesn't want to show how much he charges for labour, and he says this is the way it's done in Japan. Is he bullshitting me? Is there any way I can get him to show me what he plans to charge for labour or is it just a fucking mystery?

Mr Kobayashi: First, I experienced a sort of overpowering feeling whenever I was in the room with foreigners, not to mention a powerful body odor coming from them. I don't know whether it was a sweat from the heat or a cold sweat, but I remember I was sweating whenever they were around.

Its not unusual, even out side japan. Labour can be like double the ammount of the fixings with a charge or % a day.
When I made picture frames, That is what I charged. (no not cheapy frames either, mostly gallery stuff with the pictures being a few feet across).
