Shibuya toy shop / giant Totoro

Postby dreg » Wed Dec 19, 2007 3:37 am

I was outside the toy shop situated on the same street as the Apple store in Shibuya and they had an enormous Totoro in the window (about a meter tall).

I'm now in the UK but would like to get one delivered to an address in Japan by Christmas, do you know of any places I could do this online from?

Alternatively, do you know the name/url/phone number of the shop in question?

Thank you!

The sometimes sponsor of the FG Forum, Jlist.com carries a somewhat smaller Totoro (37 cm aka 15 inches).

I believe Mitsukoshi is the official license holder for Totoro, so they would be likely to have any size plush toy. The Mitsukoshi UK store would be worth checking, if they don't have it, they can probably get it.

The Apple Store is on Koen Dori in Shibuya. If you click on the link below, you'll open a PDF map in English of the street. The Apple store is numbered 13 so if you can remember where the shop you are talking about was in relation to that then you might be able to work out the name. If it isn't mentioned, perhaps you can tell us what it might be near and someone might know what shop you mean. There's actually a Disney Store nearby and they sell Totoro DVDs so there's a chance that's where you saw it. If so, then it probably was just a promotional item and not for sale.

BINGO! Give Mulboyne his gold star for the day.

The store with the giant Totoro in the window is numbered 9 on Mulboyne's map. It's called "Blister, world character store" and its phone number is 03-6415-3106. Blister seems to have full services online for ordering.

That shops seems to specialise in oversized plushy things. I seem to remember thinking who would want a life sized picachu or similar in their house (indeed who has the space?) as the bus stop to my house is just across the street from there.

BINGO!
Thank you all very, very much

I also found this place http://www.rakuten.co.jp/rahappy/787143/787152/#717084
They sell the 100cm one, but I'll need to set up an account with Rakuten first which is going to be a complete nightmare.

You could use the Rinkya Online-proxy Web-shopping Service to make the Rakuten order in English (and use your overseas credit card).

Blister on Koen Dori closed last month but they have just opened a smaller shop in Harajuku. The company say they want to open a series of such "character combini" instead of megastores.
