And all he got was sent home too; a Jpn would have swung, most probably :cry2: . BTW, I would be pleasantly surprised to find out that somebody in the states or my neck o' la woods wouldn't get done pretty well for the same, though most would likely get off at trial. But you would still get tried. I'd take the 23 skidoo and out scot free anyday.

Awhile ago there was some Canadian that got caught for mailing pot to the US...he ended up serving time in the US if I remember correctly. The recipient (though likely fully knew what he was getting) didn't see any charges.

I`ll be waiting for the next issue of Friday, to absorb the latest speculation and get my dose of perp-walk, limited as it seems to be.

Yes, it really is all quite hush hush, isn't it? I can't imagine who could have engineered that.......

Matsuki,
Still not used to that new name.........  That guy was a Free the Weed activist idiot, and he actually got extradited or faced it and surrendered. He was sending seeds to the US, and had been warned not to. I didn't support jail for something like that but he certainly found out what happens when you keep poking the angry gorilla. He's a Sooper Twat, too. Sort of half Robert Kennedy Jr. activist douche meets that weird guy from NewsRadio.............Andy Dick???? A total waste of zygote.

No attorneys or cameras allowed during questioning, only the leaked details in criminal trials...not a system ripe for abuse, is it?

Figured as such...as lame as the restrictions are on pot, ignoring them is not exactly a sound policy.

I saw the Friday`s 7/11 issue with a two page coverage of Hamp and Toyota. They didn`t have a perp picture, or much negative to say about her – golden girl that she is. I am really disappointed. Personally, I got better, critical analysis, coverage when they did me way back there, but I`ll not say more on this.

Well, they do need to think about ad revenues, and in the end she was just stupid, not malicious or even particularly criminal in intent. Is Friday not fairly socially liberal in that weird grumpy way only Japanese men can do (sort of Ishiharaesque without the chronic spiteful foot in mouth )? It might well be that they are as disappointed at this sad turn as many of us are. This might well throw a big wet blanket on any the fires of any others that were watching, waiting, and thinking of imitating Toyota.

But do tell us more about your own scandals................. :biggrin2:

I suppose you are right - she wasn`t as bad as they come, and her face didn`t show the addiction of a meth head. But just the same, I was really hoping for a good old bad-merican write-up. Or even a few conspiracy theories - was the Embassy involved, did the prosecutor get a new Lexus, etc...?

Mine weren`t a scandal, but rather a standup guy come hero if there be such here in Japan. I did get more words and fewer pictures if that helps.

JRA suspends jockey Luis Contreras for drug use
--The 29-year-old native of Mexico tested positive for the painkiller oxycodone--
February 11, 2016 | TOKYO (TR) –-The Japan Racing Association (JRA) has suspended jockey Luis Contreras for the use of a drug, reports Sports Hochi (Feb. 11).
On February 6, Contreras, a 29-year-old native of Mexico, tested positive for the painkiller oxycodone. A committee within JRA on Thursday revoked his temporary permit to ride as a jockey.
The jockey’s permit became active on January 5. Since then, he has been victorious twice, including the fifth race at the Nakayama Racecourse on January 11.

American kills himself in Taiwan courtroom after drug conviction

By the time authorities noticed that Tyrel Martin Marhanka had a sharp metal object in his hands, it was too late.

The 41-year-old American — who was sitting in a courtroom in Taiwan during his sentencing on drug possession charges — plunged the object deep into his neck, unleashing a gush of blood, according to the Taipei Times.

Some witnesses identified the object as a pair of scissors, but others said they saw Marhanka using two objects, both metallic. Court officials told the Times that the American separated a pair of scissors into two sharp blades.

[...]

Witnesses told the Times that, after the judge read the sentence out loud, Marhanka turned to the interpreter, who informed him of the sentence.

“Four years?” a shocked Marhanka was heard saying.

Witnesses told the paper that the interpreter explained to Marhanka that the sentence could be appealed, but Marhanka said he didn't want to do so.

“I don’t want to live anymore,” he yelled, before stabbing himself in the neck and severing at least one artery, witnesses told the Times.
