Car Insurance

Postby GomiGirl » Thu Jul 21, 2016 3:17 pm

Got a car - guess I should get it insured.

Any suggestions? A few people drive it so friends and family. All over 25.

Nothing fancy - just protect us if we hit anything or anything hits us. Car itself is not worth a whole bunch but if we hit something expensive then we are screwed.

Am still on a blue licence (I let the last one expire).
I have a Toyota Rav 4 L. 2008 model. So not new and not expensive.

I use Mitsuidirect http://www.mitsui-direct.co.jp/car/ , but I have used Zurich's online insurance as well https://www.zurich.co.jp/car/ . I have a saison credit card and always use their online insurance quote system to get quotes from a number of companies at once http://hoken.saisoncard.co.jp/automobile/ .

For God's sake get insurance! Not for yourself, but for being cleaned out of all your assets after you have driven over someone and not quite killed them, so that they can no longer work but have medical care for the rest of their lives, and you have to pay their loss of income and medical costs.

I ended up with Zurich basic insurance. All done over the phone - easy peasy.

¥61,000 for 12 months. Coverage for me and anybody who I know is driving and is over 30.

No real coverage for my car as it isn't worth much but coverage for third party property and third party injury.

Thanks for the kick up the bum Wags - I really did need to get it.

Peanuts compared to what I imagine you are paying for a parking space, and so much better than wrecking the lives of two families: that of your accident victim, and your own.

I'm parking for free. :-)

But yes it is peanuts so better that we have it now.
