That's true. They also spend some cash and time on this stuff. I think they xray scan virtually everything. Once I had some glue dots mailed to me. On an xray they would, I suppose look quite similar to tablets. In any case, the package was opened, checked and carefully resealed with a little note.
Sooo... you just painted the LSD on the sticky surface before reattaching the glue dots to the card.... smart move.

Quite right about the moral degeneracy of her poison of choice, but as Yanpa and WS noted above, she is a good warrior in the war for drugs, American Style. The real problem with this claim she didn't know is that she has already admitted she sent them or had them sent, and she disguised them. This tinfoil hat fun aside the idea it's a setup is insulting pandering. That Twitterphile that suggested that should be disciplined for even broaching it. The woman has already admitted it was her; she said she didn't think it was wrong to do so. That's called an admission of guilt.
I hope for a slap on the wrist: she looks able enough, has a strong clear gaze........and entitled stupidity need not be a life sentence.

Yeah, but look at the price. And believe it or not it has come down a lot. There was someone selling special imports on Amazon Japan a few years ago when I wanted some and from memory it was about 4,000 for a small packet. And it was endaka time.
On the other hand, I think I saw blue tack finally appear on a shelf somewhere - But I may have been dreaming. Anyway, it is re-useable and lasts forever so my couple of packets imported 5 years ago are still going strong.
Can be useful for repairs when you need a temporary watertight seal with reasonable adhesion. Covers and that sort of thing.

For watertight seals I use the white paste sold to put around aircon pipes when they enter walls. A bit heavy for automotive use but saved the Nissan Note from becoming a Silicon Sally. Use nitril gloves though, that stuff stick to the skin for ever. I get no originality point for the discovery I just noticed that all Secom armored vans use it for their radio comm gear wiring entry holes waterproofing. Really second rate job compared to a proper rubber grommet. But on par with state oF the art practice in this shithole.

A useful observation - one to bear in mind. Blue Tack is more for removable covers or in my case recently a temporary cover for a 20mm diam hole in the bathroom left after removing an old bath filler control unit. I'll bring a nice quality, screw fitted chrome soap dish from the UK to fit there in another two months or so. In the meantime bluetack is fine and will come straight off when no longer wanted.

I was thinking the same thing. I had one thing taxed about 17 years ago. It was a new winter coat my dad bought me for Christmas. He ordered it from LL Bean and they sent it directly to me so all the paperwork was in order. It was such a nice surprise having to pay 2,000 yen to get my gift. Especially as that was my first Christmas in Japan and I was sick with the flu and feeling very miserable and lonely. My dad was pretty annoyed because LL Bean had told him all the extra fees he paid would cover any import taxes.
Anyway, since then nothing has ever been opened and I've had big bottles of ibuprofen sent to me. Of course the parcels were labeled ibuprofen and the pills were in their original packaging so it probably didn't look suspicious on the X-rays.
Matsuki, are you actually getting hit with import taxes that you otherwise would have avoided? If so, it sounds like they're doing their job like it or not.

All the paperwork is in order and it's as Kuro says, they are indeed simply doing their jobs...my point is that while before, they only seemed to open maybe 1 out of 5 and the other 4 passed through with no tax.... now nearly 100percent are getting taxed. They are just more aggressively enforcing existing taxes while the same is not done in the U.S. ....yet.
Time to go ピネス hunting

'Tis fit for the intended purpose, which is holding things in place temporarily. Though come to think of it I used some to attach a poster to a door fully expecting it to fall off in a week or two, and it's been up 6 months already.

meth. Over 80% of all drug arrests in Japan are for methamphetamine. It's become so common that they don't even put it in the news anymore.

Which is more widely abused?

Customs seized over 36 tons between 2009 and 2013, that's a shitload of meth.
so, saying they catch 50% (which would be an amazingly high percentage), thats 7 tons a year that makes it in. The average dose for a prescription user is at 15mg a day, abuse begins at one 20mg oral dose. 7 ton is 7,000kg or 7,000,000,000mg or 350,000,000 20mg oral doses. If the user blows it up their nose, smokes it or injects the required dose is less than half. It all has to go somewhere, It's very doubtful that only yaks and sex workers eat up that much.
Or maybe the government is stockpiling it like whale meat.
More people drink but how many of those people "abuse"?
