Recently had the pleasure of one crawling across my leg while watching tv, and after attempting to beat it senseless with a newspaper, a shoe, an old tupperware, spraying what seamed like a third can of bug spray and chopping it in two, the bastard seemed genki as ever.
Killed one of its young'ins earlier tonight. Mrs. OP says there's another parent likely around... any FG tips?

as ugly as they are, they aren't particularly dangerous (the sting being comparable in danger to that of a bee). centipedes are your friend as they tend to prey on such things as roaches though i can certainly empathize with not wanting one around.

if i find one in the house i just scoop it into a jar or something and release the little guy outside to roam the neighbourhood

your wife is probably right about there being another one around. sleep well

I got bit by one of those my first night in the first house I rented. It had been vacant a couple of years, and was right next to some forested hills. Actually dreamed of being stung by a bee as it happened, until he got my again and I awoke ready for battle. After a beating with a rolled newspaper, it was ready for more, so I swept it outside to fight it out with the rats and stray cats. My lower leg did swell up a bit, and the swollen part had a cold sweat. Pharmacist gave me some sort of cream to reduce the swelling. Sealing a few gaps around the windows, and a few bug bombs in the attic and all the tatami rooms solved that problem until the following spring.
