Who's the new Eddie? [Moving thread]

Postby gaijinpunch » Fri Mar 16, 2012 5:44 pm

Seems Eddie is no longer around. For shame -- he was super cheap and just what I wanted: someone to help me move a truck's worth of shit (and supply the truck). So, I've called Tokyo Helping Hands but gotten no response. I used Quoz once, and while their service was fine, it was a bit more than I wanted to spend. I think there's a premium there for English.

Advisu?

Too much hassle -- and no license. I'm anti-driving.

Well just use Akabou (red hat) they are cheap, reliable and everywhere. They are a franchise business I think and most of the guys are owner drivers - older dudes usually. I have used them a bunch of times. They are great. Door to door.

Otherwise, Quoz is about the only English speaking ones. They are great.

Thanks -- I'l try Akabou. I used Quoz. Their service was fine... no problem at all.. but it was a bit more than I was wanting to pay. I'm sure the English service is part of the reason, and it's definitely not needed. They were crazy fast and nothing broke, but this is my 2nd lot of crap into the new office, so trying to keep the cost down.

Cheers for the advice.

Depending on the day and time the prices are cheaper too so if you're flexible about when you can move ask them when it's cheapest.

How much stuff, from where to where?

Akabou are a franchise, the guys use little kei-trucks and work very fast, the more they cram in the more they make.

Not much. Basically an 8 mat room, mainly desks & racks, shit like that. A stereo & a TV, and up to 10 boxes (but maybe just a few). 2 people about an hour to load and an hour to unload.
