Yahoo Auctions - Dealing with inbred asshole sellers

So I was hoping to buy a set of overalls for all my dirty work this weekend and won an pair on Yahoo Auctions. I paid immediately by the Kantanbarai (credit card), then sent a message with the size I wanted and where I wanted it delivered.

Thus far, I've never had a problem with any seller on there and have 100% pos feedback...

So the auction is a copy/paste type deal and is offering any size. I didn't read the small print but apparently there is a line that asks you to contact the seller to check inventory before bidding. Check inventory before bidding?? Kind dumb to list an auction for merchandise you don't have...not really an auction then, is it?

Anyhow, sure enough, I get a rude e-mail saying I'm an asshole for bidding without checking stock but if I am willing to wait, they'll send the item once they get more inventory in. (when?!)

I replied with some copy/paste of the auction rules and how they shouldn't be listing items they don't have, regardless of their "contact us to check inventory" line and asking me to wait without even offering an ETA is not exactly by the rules. (all polite) They have to ship within 30 days but even that is only for order-made shit...the rules basically say they can't take money for items they don't have, then order/dropship them.

They reply back that they will get a shipment in next week but I need to give them my bank details so they can refund me minus all the transfer/auction fees and shit.

I reply back with, in that case, ship the item, I'll wait.

Another reply saying they no longer want to do business with me and that I need to give them my bank details so they can refund me minus all the transfer/auction fees and shit.

I just replied with "So if you are refusing to honor the auction, I can take that as a full refund, including the fees?"

Honestly, if I could cancel the payment through the Yahoo Kantanbarai system, I would...but apparently that's not possible and it's lame to get hit with 600+ in fees for an incomplete transaction. WTF...

Anyone else ever deal with an asshole seller/buyer on Yahoo Auctions?

They finally caved in and are refunding the full amount...or so they claim. As much as I want to file a complaint and leave neg. feedback, they dude would totally ruin my perfect feedback rating. (he has a few and at least half are over the same "check inventory with us first" bullshit)

OK, this is fun....perfect storm of fucked.

So I have switched credit cards and forgot to update the payment settings on my Yahoo account to the new card. A month or so passes, I sell some high priced stuff, and they can't collect the 5-6man I owe on my older card....so they freeze the account. Supposedly they've sent conbini-barai hagaki to my registered address...but I got nothing and I can't access the details online to see if it's an old address or what. (which I think could be the case...but odd if it is as I'm pretty sure the account is not thaaaaat old) Pretty much everything on their online help section either says it doesn't apply in my situation or sends me into a login page....which puts me into a never-ending loop. (once I log in, I'm back to the original account is restricted, pay us by the hagaki at your local conbini or lose your account page) I called a few related yahoobb and such numbers and finally got connected to a department that claimed it could help...but apparently the phone # on the account is also not my current number and they honnin kakunin procedures are totally dependent on that. I feel silly but I got no record of my old keitai or work numbers that I can find and try. I guess they don't want the money that bad as they have zero suggestions on what can be done other than teeth sucking. They won't accept a fax of my ID or anything like that and call me back and no way to pay without proving who you are to their rep. It's been 2 weeks and I've got shit to sell...so I've already created a new Yahoo account. It sucks to lose several years of pos feedback (trustworthiness when selling!) but I guess the upside is saving 5-6 man in fees?

You can be sure that you are not the only person in that kind of situation. Different country, but I just went through the experience of a VoIP telephone supplier changing their network and accounts following a merger and regulatory changes. There were a whole heap of troublesome accounts that emerged in this process where people had signed up on long since abandoned e-mail addresses and linked to no longer active credit card accounts, and few ways for either the supplier to locate these people or for account holders to verify their identity to sufficient standard. The account migration was poorly managed, but even so I get the feeling that the acquiring company regretted having taken over the original company -- but some of that might be related to VoIP customers being notoriously cheap and fickle, and VoIP providers being notoriously fly-by-night and lax at following procedure.

It's all quite silly when they have no solution for someone like me who's willing to pay and jump through some out of the ordinary hoops to prove who I am in order to pay...but I guess I should just enjoy the 5-6man discount and start over. I've put in more than a reasonable amount of effort to remedy the situation.

It sometimes helps to leave a gnarly comment on a company's Facebook page. Some companies care about these But Yahoo Japan seem to have set up theirs so that you cannot start your own post. That's odd...

Matsuki has, I think, the right attitude here. He might have lost his seller reputation to date, but that might not be worth 5 or 6 man yen, and if they make it too difficult to actually pay them the debt due, it starts to be come their problem, not your problem.

I did that with ANA when they destroyed multiple suitcases of mine. Meaningless apologies and such came but they refused to replace anything. Sekinin nashi Been using Singapore air ever since and they are great from the start when the occasional mistake occurs.

Best defense to a defamation lawsuit is what you've asserted is true. I posted up pics and their bullshit apology but "not our responsibility" responses. I was quite upset as I had actually paid for additional baggage and was told that regardless of how fucked it is when it arrives, they wouldn't even refund the delivery charge. Seriously, fuck ANA! I love Singapore Air cha cha cha!
