I think I'll go for "Langereis" from now on.
it seems that in Japan, no amount of scientific debunking can kill the widely held notion that blood tells all.

I actually didn't know when my blood type when I came to Japan (many North Americans don't AFAIK) as I had never had a medical emergency. I found after a few years here when I gave blood (O+), but up until then I would just tell them I didn't have a clue.
After I found out I was "O", I would just say 大型 (ō-gata = jumbo ) which sounds very similar to O型 (o-gata = O-type)

Didn't know my blood type until I needed knee surgery, went in for pre-op, the nurse asks me my blood, type, I answered I didn't know, she proceeds to pull out this big ass needle, to take a small amount so they can check to see what type I have. Found out I have O+. Kind of ruined the surprise.

Well, in an emergency, they'll just give you O-, since that's the universal donor blood type, but O- is never in large supply, so if they can give you a closer match, they can save the O- for those poor souls who can't accept anything else (like Canman).

Nah - Dr Wikipedia just tells me that it is from the food passing quickly through the system. All the crayons are accounted for.

Hey, no fair picking on the Pommies again. Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Sweden, and even those damn "Anglos" in America had eugenics programs.

No relationship between blood type and personality: Evidence from large-scale surveys in Japan and the US
Kengo Nawata (Kyoto Bunkyo University)
Despite the widespread popular belief in Japan about a relationship between personality and ABO blood type, this association has not been empirically substantiated. This study provides more robust evidence that there is no relationship between blood type and personality, through a secondary analysis of large-scale survey data. Recent data (after 2000) were collected using large-scale random sampling from over 10,000 people in total from both Japan and the US. Effect sizes were calculated. Japanese datasets from 2004 (N = 2,878–2,938), and 2,005 (N = 3,618–3,692) as well as one dataset from the US in 2004 (N = 3,037–3,092) were used. In all the datasets, 65 of 68 items yielded non-significant differences between blood groups. Effect sizes (η2) were less than .003. This means that blood type explained less than 0.3% of the total variance in personality. These results show the non-relevance of blood type for personality.
Key words: blood-typing, blood type stereotypes, blood group, personality, pseudoscience.
