Sushi "not a meal"

Postby Mulboyne » Tue Mar 31, 2009 2:39 am

Here's a bewildering statement from restaurant franchise magazine QSR:

New Noshing Notions
...In Japan, sushi generally is considered a snack or pre-meal ritual, not a meal in and of itself...

this magazine is owned by the mclane company.

looking over their company info (base location and what demographic they cater to) it's not surprising they'd print something this idiotic.

If he had used onigiri as his example, he would've been better off.
Just look at any decent sushi restaurant at 7pm on any given night. It's usually packed and all they're eating is sushi, and perhaps some soup on the side.

A fine sushi meal should come complete with some asari-jiru and chawanmushi, along with beer and nihon-shu.
