[floatr][/floatr]"Happy End" were an influential Japanese band from the early 70's. While other groups of the era frequently sang in English and covered overseas hit sings, Happy End performed their own material and sang in Japanese. For this reason, many critics believe they helped change the domestic music scene and, after they broke up, bass player Haruomi Hosono went on to major success as a member of Yellow Magic Orchestra. Their material is not particularly well-known outside Japan although their most famous song "Kaze Wo Atsumete" was used on the Soundtrack to "Lost in Translation". The band is back in the news today, however, since Shigeru Suzuki, the guitarist in the band, has been arrested on cannabis charges. Remarkably, record label Pony Canyon has announced in response that it has suspended all sales, whether online or in stores, of Happy End albums. This includes their 1971 release "Kazemachi Roman" which, in 1971, Rolling Stone Japan rated as the top Japanese rock album of all time.

Ahh, weren't you the one who was using his guitar as a bong between gigs?
