Devo Live in Japan DVD

Amazon: Devo: Live in the Land of the Rising Sun (2003)
From a stage super-heated by over-the-top, rock 'n roll cliche lighting, DEVO faced a sea of Asian Gen X'ers in a 100 degree plus fahrenheit venue in the bowels of Tokyo, Japan. The crowd was swathed in bootlegged energy domes and DEVO T's, mouthing the lyrics to songs we wrote when most of them were loading their diapers with UNi-colored poo. Maybe it was a Beautiful World" after all!" - Gerry Casale

I did an interview with the main Maywa Denki guy yesterday. He said his biggest influences were Duran Duran and Kraftwerk, not DEVO. The article is coming soon.

Kraftwerk and Maywa Denki follow the same kind of electro-industial vibe.... but Duran Duran? Is he pulling your leg or dampdreaming for gay groupies?

Have you heard any of the music he's put on the CDs? The stuff I heard in the lobby of the museum exhibit isn't too far from standard J-Pop. Taro, with your google skills, can you find any Maywa Denki MP3s? I tried but had no such luck.

I'll look for some legal Maywa Denki clips on Amazon and Rakudan tonight. That stuff you heard in the lobby of the museum exhibit seems to be quite different to the TV performances they used to do with silly electro-mechanical drum and music machines. They used to sound like Kraftwerk's "We are the robots" played by funky Lego machines.
