Just a guess...Alex Chilton???

Nope, but he filled in for this guy many times...

Not in a musical capacity :)
Mr Kobayashi: First, I experienced a sort of overpowering feeling whenever I was in the room with foreigners, not to mention a powerful body odor coming from them. I don't know whether it was a sweat from the heat or a cold sweat, but I remember I was sweating whenever they were around.

That took a bit of brain racking. I think he had a few bong hits too many that day.

The above album cover is "Locust Abortion Technician" by The Butthole Surfers released in 1987 on the Latino Bugger Veil label. Here is a good Editorial Review

Amazon.com - The Butthole Surfers were never more playful and psychotic than on Locust Abortion Technician, which opens with the tender dialogue between an inquisitive, sweet son asking his father the meaning of regret. The father, it turns out, is Gibby Haynes (uh oh!), who spouts something comfy--"it's better to regret something you have done," he opines, "than to regret something you haven't done"--and then adds, "By the way, if you see your mom this weekend, tell her..." Then the band explodes into a ragged, tweaked metal riff, with Gibby screaming "Satan" in the background. Nothing could touch this in 1987 and nothing since has been as convincingly bent, as close to postpunk music theater gone madly haywire. Haynes growls and warps and pleads and the band drones and thuds and rocks, and the whole mix is so demented that it's almost touching to think that in a farmhouse somewhere in Texas, a bunch of acid-dosed punks were not only making this kind of racket, but also making it in the grand 1980s punk market of endless tours, crappy venues, and, well, more and more and more of the same. Including the acid. --Andrew Bartlett

I thought you might be the one to get that one. IRC, that album was originally released on Touch and Go. I think that Latino Bugger Veil originally started as a Butthole project to promote psychedelic bands from Texas. The first I remember seeing that label name was on a fabulous compilation called A Texas Trip which is way out of print. The Butthole tracks have been preserved on Humpty Dumpty LSD but as for the other bands on there I have no idea. Thankfully, I still have my copy on vinyl.

As his uncensored image proves, he is indeed correct . And I bet they do tear the place down live.

I'm stumped on your clown cover. Knowing your tastes in music it's probably something really cool that I'll be embarrassed about.

Let's just say that replacing a good singer/songwriter would be considered "crazy" side for some groups, but in this case it worked for the better.

It's not Insane Clown Posse is it?

The best example of replacing a singer/songwriter for even greater success would be Floyd's dismissal of Syd Barrett. And then Shine On You Crazy Diamond would fit your 'crazy' reference but that ain't no album cover I know...

His name could be a morning Yamanote train.....
