The music band Gi!nz, whose four members come from the ruling Liberal Democratic Party, is making music to support bone marrow donation and promote decentralization, and will launch it first CD this month. Part of the profits from the CD, which will sell for 2,000 yen, will go to the Japan Marrow Donor Program. The band began playing in 1997. But before its first live concert, some LDP executives criticized it, saying that it was inappropriate to hold a concert while the Diet was in session.
...The CD contains eights songs, including some 70s-like music, rock 'n' roll, as well as folk music. "A Little Courage -- Peace Together," a song with marrow transplant as its theme, was composed based on a letter sent to the marrow bank from a patient whose life was saved by the marrow contributed by Okonogi in 1998. The letter said: "I would like to use my life given to me for others." "Graduation from Tokyo" is a tune that calls for decentralization of power.
