
Hong Kong singing idols Kelvin Kwan Chor-yiu and Wei Si have been arrested in Tokyo for the alleged possession of marijuana. The Cantopop couple were still being held by Japanese authorities last night, eight days after their arrest in the city's trendy Shibuya nightclub district. Kwan and Wei Si have both taken part in government-backed anti-drug campaigns and their arrests - which were only made public yesterday - have reignited concerns over teenage drug abuse at a time when the government is trying to stamp it out...According to reports in Japan, the couple entered the country on February 20 as tourists and were arrested around 1am on February 24. Kwan and Wei Si...are alleged to have been arguing with a shopkeeper in a 24-hour store when police were called. Marijuana was allegedly found in a cigarette they were carrying. In an interview with police, Canadian citizen Kwan, 25, reportedly admitted the drug had been given to him by a friend in Hong Kong. This Chinese language report seems to suggest the argument took place in Don Quijote in Shibuya. Edit: Japanese sources report they were being accused of shoplifting in the store. Wei Si is also known as Jill Vidal and that's the name which TV and newspapers are using.
