A three-piece band made entirely from robots plays guitar, drums and keyboard alongside Japanese pop singers [Amoyamo] in Tokyo on Monday. The trio, called Z-Machines, was designed by engineers and academics at Tokyo University who hope to one day send them to play in space...

I realize I'm a fucking idiot and all that, but rather than rock bands playing in outer space, wouldn't it be better for the cuntry's best and brightest robot designers to think about things like how to deal with nuclear reactors fucked over by the earthquakes/tsunami that commonly strike this land? Or am I just being fucking stupider than normal?

That could be kinda cool if those robots had some decent music to play.

The two spunkdumpsters seems to be heavily affected from a terminal case of "not paid enough to give a fuck"

I don't entirely understand how having pre-programmed mechanical machines performing is any different to just playing a recording. There are no musical benefits. Let's all gather around the pianola for a sing-song.

I really don't think it's about the music.*
More of a "look what we can do with robots" techie thing.

* This possibility becomes painfully apparent upon listening to the "music."

Yea... because fully assembling, painting and welding cars with robots is much less and achievement than 3 Mecano rejects 'playing' music...
