Supercar - More than tolerable J-pop

Postby djgizmoe » Fri Jun 04, 2004 10:01 am

Supercar's been on tour in support of their new album, Answer, which is pretty darn good. More varied than the last two albums, you've also got some hipper-than-thou guest musicians (including members of ROVO, who Supercar recently toured with). Not exactly the "Radiohead of Japan" (that would be Downy), but still very cool stuff (check out the soundtrack to Ping Pong). They've also got a pricey live DVD worth checking out.

There is nothing more noble than impassioned nonsense.

I though the Japanese Radiohead would be ACMA who released a CD called "Ho-K Computer"

They liked the joke so much, their label are using it for a compilation

Supercar must be the most successful rock band to ever hail from Aomori. Enka and jamisen hotshots are a different matter.

Their music videos are another story though. I guess they're just too weird for me.
