UK spouse visas: not for the less-well-off

Postby yanpa » Wed Jul 24, 2013 9:32 pm

Japan Today wrote:New immigration laws hinder some married expats returning to UK

British nationals living outside the European Union are up in arms over new immigration rules for foreign spouses that, they say, make it difficult — and, in some cases, impossible — to return to the UK to live.

And given the minimum-earning requirements, the hurdles are even higher for women who are married to foreign men.

If I had to go back to the real world with spouse in tow, I'd go somewhere else in Europe anyway just to have a chance of finding decent affordable accommodation somewhere I'd actually want to live.

I saw this article and thought about you this morning.

Yeah, this is pretty much a problem.

Nowadays, it also affects Dutch people wanting to return to the Netherlands with their foreign partner, though it may still be less strict than in the UK.

Anyway, I have no plans to return.

They paid my education, and have not really profited from it, and it looks they do not want to.

So, everybody happy...

Well that's simple enough, they can just go to the UK and exercise their rights of abode for themselves as EU citizens, which extend to their dependents.

It took 90 minutes to obtain a visa for the ex-Mrs Yanpa in Germany, no fees payable.

Does this mean it's going to cost me a small fortune if I want to take my Dutch wife to the netherlands?

Sounds like some of you have been passing the Dutchie....(which would be a real Dutch treat and give me some Dutch courage!!!)

Incidentally, if I hid her in my Dutch oven, she'd probably be (yet) another ex-Mrs. SDH...

The U.S. has something similar to this but I think the minimum income requirement was about half of what the UK is asking...though if you're married and planning on supporting your foreign spouse in your cuntry, shouldn't you be earning more than those minimums??

Fuck you guys.

You forgot to mention a Dutch kiss.

A kiss given after oral sex, from one partner to the other, where the male ejaculate is swapped from mouth to mouth. Often performed without the male partners consent when he forgets to give a courtesy tap.

Cor, Russell, are you some kind of sicko?

I actually thought it was something closer to either a Dirty Sanchez or felching....

I just describe a national pastime.

After all, traditions have to be respected...

Yeah, but that is only in times of emergency...

NZ work visas: not for the less-thin

Postby omae mona » Sun Jul 28, 2013 5:22 pm

Global trend?

South African Chef Albert Buitenhuis Told He's Too Fat To Live In New Zealand

The couple have had no previous trouble renewing their annual work visas but this year it was declined due to health risks associated with Albert's weight.

They have both been forced to stop working and now face deportation.
..
A spokesman said: "It is important that all migrants have an acceptable standard of health to minimise costs and demands on New Zealand's health services."

Around 30% of New Zealanders are obese.

As far as I know, NZ is the first country to do this, so I would not call it exactly a global trend.

But for sure let's hope it doesn't become a global trend.

Most FG do not fall within the Japanese belly-circumference standards (even if they are not fat). It would be an indirect way to discriminate against people.

Ha! Have fun suing civil servants until you're grey and old, who have lawyers paid for by your tax money who live for this shit. UK and NL immigration laws have been proven time and again to be blatantly in violation of the EU human rights charter and our elected officials don't give a shit. Fuck them furriners, right?

At Tsuru manor we're going for full-on naturalization to EU citizenship for the missus, by the way. In the current political climate it is a window that is getting more difficult to get through every year, and if it means not having to do business with our INS ever again, it's an option we will gladly take. Even setting foot in their buildings gives me the chills. I'm sure there are plenty of people here who similarly loathe being dependent on some jobsworth who has the power to decide that you're not good enough to raise a family in your own country with someone who has a different passport.
