Modern China is not such a homogenous region as Japan (and never so much as Korea) -- so sterotypes just dont work. In a large city like Beijing, there are many thousands (hundreds of) people from many different ethnic and cultural backgrounds.

Since still it is basically illegal for foreigners to have sex with Chinese, I don't doubt our little friend will have some issues to get a Chinese bf. While this is not usually an issue with the visiting or local lao wai - it's definitely in the background of any relationship with a proper Chinese citizen. Her/his parents will be extremely senstive to this, as it will likely raise some concerns having to do with 'retraining' and 'cultural schooling' camps that one may likely be sent to. Especially in years gone by (remember the generation you are dealing with here).

If this chick was really looking for love and romance (and with the mandarin skill she obviously has) it wouldn't be an issue. Amongst the intellectual and generally party (communist) oriented crowd, there are alot of ABC party returnees which would happily engage her (in more ways than one).
