I had a friend who worked for the Japanese consulate in NYC. .......poor guy had the job of having to notify Japanese vistors' next of kin whenever they found themselves in grave situations ------ He had stories that would make you shudder...

Being Hispanic and being black are not mutually exclusive. Besides, not all Dominicans are black, but they are all Hispanic. There are black Puerto Ricans too. However, most black PRs and Doms don't consider themselves black.

Some years ago I had two Japanese girls staying at my flat while they were visiting town. Now Copenhagen is considered a fairly safe place, so I told them that. Unfortunately they were ripped of the first day they were here by a bunch of eastern european gypsies. I guess the criminals should have been more politically correct and maybe have included a black guy, a guy with blue eyes and blonde hair and maybe a transvestite to avoid offending anyone by living up to the stereotypical image of a gypsy.

While you wait for his stories, here is one that was told to me by a Japanese girl. Very tame in relation to what you might be expecting. She arrives at the airport (I believe it was La Guardia not JFK on a connecting flight) and takes a taxi to Midtown. Meter reads $26 but the driver says she has to pay $260. When she asks how come? The driver says that's how it is in NY, the fare is multiplied by 10. She paid $260 rather than have to argue in her poor English.

I have also heard unsubstantiated stories of J-girls being approached at the Greyhound bus terminal by some black guys and forcibly recruiting them for prostitution during their stays in NYC.

J-girls are extremely careless when they travel so I would believe any story.

I have a Japanese friend who came to America for school about ten years ago. Right away he bought an old Buick to travel around in, and right away it broke down on his way to visit me. Some kind Hispanic gentlemen offered him a ride to my house, then charged him $60 for their 5 minutes of time.

okay i'm guilty of one infraction, albeit unintentionally: i was walking about of a nyc subway station in harlem one early night when i saw some j tourists (grandmom, mom and daughter) all looking at a map. i asked where they were going (in japanese) and then physically pointed them in the right direction and how far, etc. so they went that way.

a few minutes later (i checked my voicemail and stuff) i realized i was facing the wrong way (i was used to exiting the subway at a certain direction) and had sent them straight into what would turn out to be some hard core projects (they were looking for a cathedral that was in a safe direction). never saw them again.
