Sleeping Stunt In Ginza

ITN: Daredevil sleeper in Tokyo
It is not often you get to see a woman sleep in a bed stuck on the side of a building, but this happened for workers in the Ginza district of Tokyo. The crowds saw a woman abseiling from the roof of a hotel, and into a bed suspended from the fourth floor. Professional window cleaner Aya Nakamura took part in the stunt as part of an advertisement for a hotel chain. "I was yawning and I actually almost fell asleep because it's such beautiful weather. It's so warm and it feels so good," Ms Nakamura said after the stunt. The hotel was trying to highlight the benefits of a good night sleep, but its PR manager said the stunt did more than hit home its message. "This ad is unique because this never happens. All this in a busy street like Ginza. That is our point: to surprise our guests and consumers in Japan," said Takako Ushio.

Two more videos from passers-by: an evening shot and one with subtitles. There are several clips now on YouTube now but I'm guessing this is more than enough already.

It would have worked better from a new media marketing standpoint if they had some branding on or near the bed...for all the attention it is getting, most people are not going to have any idea who was behind it.

The picture is cropped. If you watch the video, you can see the logo for ANA Crowne Plaza Hotel.

Yeah, if you wait until the very last seconds of the video when she climbs down, otherwise the it is out of frame or not clearly visible/legible. Not good for blogging purposes with still photos (for pics big enough to see what going on means the name is out of the photo) and many people who might watch the video aren't necessarily going to watch the whole thing to the end, esp the 2 minute one. If it was closer to the bed, say a 5 feet above or below it, it would have worked much better leveraging the exposure the stunt created. As it stands, it is more likely that it will be know as another 'crazy J billboard' rather than that 'crazy ANA Hotel billboard'

:?:

In the second video, you can see it at 0:23 seconds. And the logo looks like it could be positioned at about 5 feet below the bed (though hard to tell because it's at a distance - could be more).

Kuang Grade's point is that there are a lot of photographs and video clips of that stunt which do not show the logo because it is too far below where most people were training their lenses.
