Hugo Strikes Back! has a blog post here referring to a book about the "Golden Age of Stripping" in Japan. At the bottom of the post there are seven pictures from shows in the post war period. Here's a nice shot of some of the girls taking a break with some water melon:

The blog entry on Hugo Strikes Back! also mentions that some of these shows dealt with quiet outrageous subjects. One infamous post-war criminal was serial-rapist and killer Yoshio Kodaira - the author David Peace uses his story as the basis for his recent book set in the era. It turns out that some shady touring groups would give performances featuring Kodaira's rapes on stage.
