Here's the trailer for "Mapa de los sonidos de Tokyo" with Rinko Kikuchi where she plays a contract killer with a day job at Tsukiji. Rather than having her learn Spanish, it looks like director Isabel Croixet decided to dub her lines. Kikuchi also has a supporting role in "The Brothers Bloom" which has just been released to mixed reviews. She'll be popping up a lot this year with roles in "Shanghai" and the Japanese remake of "Sideways". Next year should also see the release of the film version of "Norwegian Wood".

Anyway, it seems like Kikuchi was in the middle of a wardrobe malfunction in that second video. Weird.

The naked sushi scene which opens that trailer has drawn objections according to this Sankei report (Japanese). Apparently, this shows Japan in a bad light. Some also seem unhappy about the sex scene in the love hotel room fitted out to look like a train carriage. And the fact that Rinko Kikuchi falls in love with "a chubby white guy". What apparently makes this more unacceptable is that the "Map Of The Sounds Of Tokyo" is not some porn flick or B-movie but a film by well-regarded international director which has received awards and praise overseas. One blogger is calling the film a "Wai Wai movie".
