Huffington Post: An Important Film at a Crucial Time
While I was at the Tribeca Film Festival last month, I was privileged to speak at some length with filmmaker Sharon Yamato, an elegant, soft-spoken woman from Southern California who, together with her co-director Nancy Kapitanoff, has produced a documentary short narrated by Sandra Oh called Out of Infamy: Michi Nishiura Weglyn. The 17-minute film reveals a dark and shocking chapter of American history: the detention in concentration camps of over 110,000 people of Japanese descent during World War II.
